Factory 26 at 3 Crossings

Pittsburgh, PA

Factory 26 at 3 Crossings is an adaptive reuse of a former warehouse building in the historic Strip District of Pittsburgh, PA. The renovated building is a mix of 52,500 square feet of flexible office and warehouse space over two floors. The urban retrofit features 20-foot ceilings, freight and passenger elevators, and a grade-level access loading dock.

Factory 26 is part of the 3 Crossings redevelopment project reconnecting the Strip District neighborhood and Three Rivers Trail. The development represents an investment in the transformation of former trucking yards of Pittsburgh’s past into a sustainable neighborhood of the future.

To deliver a modern and sustainable facade that tied the space to its industrial roots, the project team turned to CENTRIA single-skin metal panels for durable cladding with curb appeal.

Maximum Flexibility

The design team specified a panel layout and color selection to achieve a custom exterior design finish for the building’s exterior. CENTRIA Concept Series in XL Silver Gray Metallic was integrated with Alucobond ACM wall panels and longboard extruded aluminum panels.

“Since the architect had very specific design requirements that integrated different materials to create the façade, CENTRIA was by far the most efficient and effective solution for this project,” said Kevin Kolanko, of Vulcan Metal Sales, Inc.

CENTRIA’s Concept Series panels feature concealed fasteners and hook and grab panel joinery that allows panels to integrate with each other. Panels can be installed vertically or horizontally, allowing for increased design flexibility. Concept Series single-skin wall panels may be installed in a variety of rainscreen applications while delivering an unmatched performance. They come with stand-off clips that provide a ventilation cavity and drain plane behind the panel to allow for thermal and seismic movements.

“CENTRIA was able to help us transform a warehouse building into a modern-day office space”, said Kevin Kolanko, of Vulcan Metal Sales, Inc. “Panels were simple to install, which provided the project team with an ideal solution that helped keep our project timeline on schedule.”
