Wexford Health and Wellness Pavilion

Wexford, PA

Large banks of floor-to-ceiling windows, a grand piano and a “healing garden” for quiet contemplations are just a few of the innovative features that greet patients at the $100-million Allegheny Health Network Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion, which opened in fall 2014. The facility featured metal products from CENTRIA.

The 174,000-square-foot complex in Wexford, PA offers patients a convenient way to see a variety of healthcare specialists under one roof. What’s more, the facility features many amenities that are commonly associated with the retail shopping experience.

The strategy behind the Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion is to streamline care, and trim patient bills, by reducing the time and expenses associated with conventional hospital visits. The set-up evokes the idea of a “medical mall,” with a first-floor information desk and distinct indoor entries for each department.

The pavilion is equipped with an outpatient surgery center comprising four operating rooms and 10 pre-operative bays; a cancer treatment and diagnostic center; a pediatrics department with 12 exam rooms; as well as a pharmacy, eye care center and medical resource library. It also features a walking track, therapy pool, women’s health center, cardiac testing area, full-service cafe and a demonstration kitchen where dietitians and chefs showcase healthy cooking techniques.

The designers of the Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion specified CENTRIA products because of their combination of performance, aesthetics, sustainability and economic advantages.

Formawall Dimension Series insulated metal wall systems provide thermal efficiency and moisture control in a single panelized component. CENTRIA’s advanced thermal and moisture protection (ATMP®) technology allows Formawall Dimension Series insulated metal panels to provide superior thermal and moisture protection without sacrificing aesthetics.

Available in horizontal and vertical panels, the Formawall Dimension Series provides designers with an extensive array of aesthetic options. The Dimension Series offers a wide range of lengths, thicknesses, reveals and profiles, along with integrated wall components like windows, louvers and sunshades, for a complete high-performance system.

The interlocking assembly and all-in-one fabrication features of the Formawall Dimension Series deliver single-source accountability, minimize freight and materials requirements and support sustainability initiatives. The Dimension Series’ single-component construction also results in less jobsite waste, which makes it a more environmentally friendly option.

Additionally, CENTRIA’s Profile Series Exposed Fastener Panels, such as the Super-Rib panels chosen for this project, are extremely versatile panels that can be used as exterior or interior walls, roofs and soffits with ribs that run horizontally or vertically. When used for walls, the panels may be inverted. They also may be insulated to add a level of thermal protection.
