South Shore Bone and Joint Center

Hingham, MA

The South Shore Bone and Joint Center is one of the latest improvements to the South Shore Hospital Health System. A joint venture of the South Shore Hospital and South Shore Orthopedics, this new outpatient facility will serve more than 700,000 residents in the southeastern Massachusetts region. Architectural metal products from CENTRIA played a key role in the facility’s design.

Situated in Hingham, Massachusetts, the center features the latest in advanced medical and imaging technology designed to prevent and treat a range of orthopedic ailments. Equipped with an extensive surgical and rehabilitative team, residents of the area are now able to experience the best in outpatient care in one convenient location. Features include an ambulatory surgery center, sports therapy, state-of-the-art imaging and diagnostic equipment, and a concussion management clinic.

CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series panels create an aesthetically pleasing, exceptionally smooth building surface with mitered corner details and a concealed fixing system that produces sharp clean lines and corners. Designers mixed and contrasted colors in an interlocking pattern to provide a clean, sleek and modern look on the exterior of the facility. In addition to a wide variety of color and coating options, Formawall panels are available in flat and embossed surface treatments and can be curved or formed into a variety of shapes for design flexibility.

Formawall provides both advanced thermal and moisture protection (ATMP®) in a single panelized component decreasing both installation time and expenses. Panels offer a factory foamed-in-place core, minimizing insulation gaps and contributing to an impressive R-value of 14. Formawall’s unique design offers energy efficient measures including a thermal break between the panel face and liner, leading to efficient ‘U’ values. The product’s airtight construction reduces energy consumption, while boosting thermal performance during Massachusetts’ harsh winters.

Formawall’s high-strength steel panels offer increased spanning capabilities. In addition, trimless ends eliminate the requirement for extrusions or trim at panel joints, windows and other openings. Also, panels can be integrated with glazing, louvers and solar shading. The result is a window system that not only maximizes natural light but also eliminates receptor extrusions and ensures superior weather resistance. The ease of integration eliminates problems of coordinating window and metal panel intersections and contributes to the overall smooth look of the facility.

C/S Sunshades, a joint creation of CENTRIA and Construction Specialties, Inc. (C/S Group), were chosen to shade the building without sacrificing aesthetics. These sunshades are engineered for seamless integration with Formawall Dimension Series panels, allowing for easy installation and ensuring long-term product cooperation. CENTRIA’s C/S Louvers, which are drainable and storm-resistant, integrate seamlessly with the Formawall Dimension Series panels and add both aesthetic value and advanced performance to the overall project.
