For 100 years, the continuous pursuit of innovation and excellence has been central to the success and growth of CENTRIA and its predecessor companies — H.H. Robertson, E.G. Smith and Steelite.
1906
H.H. Robertson launches a construction products company. Corrosion-resistant metal wall and roof panels are manufactured and protected sheet metal is patented. The product line later expands to include foam composite panels and an electrified floor system.
1922
Popularity of H.H. Robertson products lead to the opening of the company’s first international factory in England. Today CENTRIA manufacturers throughout the world including China and India.
1935
The E.G. Smith Company is established in Emsworth, PA. The company dramatically improves quality control by installing its own architectural coating line. In 1968, the company launches its own insulated foam composite wall system.
1958
Steelite is born, a manufacturer of light gage steel trusses. The company quickly adds corrugated metal panels to its product offerings. The company’s steady growth leads to acquisition of six corrugating mills and a sheet metal fabrication shop.
1996
The engineering expertise, fabrication capability, and construction experience of three industry leaders are merged to form CENTRIA — the singular, new leader in exterior metal architectural systems.
1999
CENTRIA launches Formawall Dimension Series, for the first architectural insulated composite wall system to provide variable panel thickness variable reveal depths and a variety of panel profiles. Architectural Record names it a Product of the Millennium.
2004
Concept Series® is introduced. The new concealed fastener system features six different panel profiles that can be installed interchangeably, vertically or horizontally. The product is a giant leap forward in the paradigm of mass-customization.
